Sportscar Vintage Racing Association (SVRA) today announced that Omologato is now the official watch of America’s premier vintage racing organization. Motorsport culture is the founding design principle of the company. He has affiliations across the sport, including partnerships with world famous tracks such as Watkins Glen International and Monza.
“Omologato is ingrained in motorsport culture around the world,” said Tony Parella, CEO of SVRA. “Their slogan, ‘Honoring the past by rushing into the future’, is SVRA’s raison d’être.”
The company takes its name from Gran Turismo Omologato (GTO). Omologato is Italian for “homologate”, a term referring to sports cars certified by a governing body as ready to race.
“I have loved motorsport since I can remember, so combining my love of design, watches and racing to form my business is a privilege,” said Omologato CEO Shami Kalra. “Everyone at Omologato will feel very comfortable with SVRA and the entire SpeedTour format which includes two more of our partners, Formula 4 USA and Formula Regional Americas which we joined earlier this year.”
Omologato’s product line, consisting of dozens of handcrafted watches, is affordably priced and designed with various racing themes. To capture the attention of fans and sports executives, Kalra draws on a vast reservoir of stories and details for inspiration. One watch has bricks engraved on its back as a tribute to the Brickyard. Meanwhile, another features the red numerals 7:22, which corresponded to the time of day Stirling Moss was launched from the start ramp of the 1955 Mille Miglia. Such details capture the imagination of runners and trigger delicious racing stories. All watches offer subtle design cues that reference great racing cars, legendary drivers and world-class racing venues.
Omologato will extend these design cues to SVRA with a special run of 250 special-edition watches. Available on a first-come, first-served basis, SVRA racers can request the race number which they also use on their car.
Omologato joins other top brands on the growing list of SVRA Partners. Among them are Jaguar, Land Rover, NetJets, Sunoco, Avis, Mazda Motorsports, Big Machine Vodka, TireRack.com, RACELOGIC, Cook Wealth Management, Hawk Performance, FAST Cooling and Marathon Coach. SVRA’s national platform is central to the organization’s growth strategy. Agreements with powerful brands combine with the significant participation of legendary professional riders and the strong demographic value of the paddock for more partnership attraction. This strategy provides three pillars for business expansion. Company officials report steady triple-digit annual growth since 2012.
